This year Life Preservers Project is entering its 8th full year of operation. What began as a small idea to host one large auction in 2010 has become a much greater mission and has accomplished what seemed at the time to be impossible.
We have two fundraising events each year for the past seven years, which have netted over $100K in funds
and goods. We have been able to in-turn donate the bulk of that to the various charities we have supported over the years, including but not limited to Gems-Girls, Restore New York, Toys for Tots, the Somali Mam Foundation and (through a partnership with Women in eDiscovery NYC) Volunteers of America’s Operation Backpack.
Through all of your generous donations we have been able to effect some genuine change in the lives of those recipients supported by each of these charities. The Legal and eDiscovery communities along with the NYC Art and Fashion communities deserve our greatest gratitude for the time, money and artistic work donated to our organization time and time again. Thank you!
But we aren’t done. We plan to do MORE, raise MORE, and educate MORE!! We plan to keep it going and bring you more in 2017.
We will be expanding the artist collective and creating an online gallery where participating artists can sell their art with portions of the proceeds going to the charities. A list of available charities will be made available at time of purchase and the buyer can choose which charity the portion of the donations will go to.
In June 2017, we will host our Annual Summer Fundraising Gala. Each year we make sure to make bigger and better than the last and we promise this year will be no different. We’re already in the planning stages and will announce our fundraising goals for the event in the coming month. Last year, we raised $25,000 and we aim to shoot even higher this year.
One last thing!
Amazon has an incredible charitable giving program that donates .05% of all purchases to a charity of your choice. Life Preservers Inc is a listed charity and you just need to sign into Amazon through https://smile.amazon.com/ to choose us rather than the old Amazon url. And since it is Human Trafficking Awareness Month why not make sure to switch to Amazon Smile for your last purchase before the month ends.
We’ll leave you with some recent New York news and wins against human trafficking.
